Sarah Palin coming to a talk show near you?

So I'm reading through some of the posts that arrive in my feed reader . . . and I come across a post from TvbytheNumbers citing a Hollywood Reporter article announcing that Hollywood is all set and ready to snatch up Sarah Palin given the ratings from last week's SNL appearance.

Like Robert, I too expected this to be the case. I mean she has the on-camera presence, the hype surrounding her veep candidacy has elevated her name recognition to astonishing levels ( I mean seriously, who heard of her before she became McCain's running mate? ), and there's enough controversy surrounding her that if you haven't heard of her, you probably have heard about something she did . . . or said.

So, let's assume that Obama wins the presidency and Palin goes on to finish her term of Governor of Alaska. Her term ends in 2010. Will she still have the name recognition she enjoys now in 2010? I'm sure she wouldn't let a little thing like governorship get in the way of the money Hollywood would love to throw at her. Just think of the wardrobe budget she could have with the millions any one of the networks would bestow upon her - and she wouldn't have to donate that to charity.

While the Hollywood Reporter article suggests that many executives believe the Fox News talking head path would probably be the best way for her to go, they aren't necessarily writing off the chance of a talk show like Oprah's daytime show.

So if she did do some kind of talk show, I can't help but think it might end up something like Bob & Doug McKenzie and their "Great White North" panel show on SCTV ( I used to stay up late just to watch them in the 80s ). She could sport a tuque and give out the moose report all the while slipping in passages of, "Drill, Baby Drill!" Every now and then I suppose she might invite a few lipsticked, pit bull, hockey moms so they can trade, "You betchas!" discussing the latest trends in cleaning hunting rifles or how best to preserve a manicure while gutting a seal.

So . . . any thoughts on this? Is this where television is going? Would you watch her show?
